Default Is This Hemp Safe?

Hi there! I was wondering if this hemp I bought if safe for budgies.

A little detail: It not meant for birds, it is for jewelry designers, and it is from the company Darice. It does not say untreated, so I am worried, but it does say "all natural".

Here are pictures:

I would imagine it is safe.

Before using it, you can contact the manufacturer and ask if the hemp has been treated.

Alright, shall do! Thanks!

Okay! I have emailed them, and am now (not so)patiently waiting for a response! And to go with it, to make some DIY toys, I just bought a pound of pony beads. I probably won't have to buy some more in a while!

Hello guys! So, they just responded and said that it is coated with corn and potato starch. Is this safe? Thank you so much!

Corn starch is perfectly safe, basically that is cornflour. Not so sure of the potato starch though. I know it is not recommended to give potato to our birds. Sweet potato is fine, but that is not actually a potato it is just called that. More closely related to the yam family, where the potato is a member of the Deadly Nightshade family.

Potatoes are - as I recall - on the 'coked only - list of possible foods.
However, potato starch is like corn starch - just starch (and likely well processed)
It's certainly edible (it's the 'starch' in European recipes, vs corn in American ones)

I also would think potato starch is ok, it is the white powder left in the bowl after you soak potatoes and pour off the water.
