Default Could Opal actually be a boy?

Opal is a little over 6 months old now, she's gone through her big girl molt (although she doesn't seem quite finished. There are still feathers EVERYWHERE )

As she's been getting older (and more beautiful), I've been expecting her cere to lighten into a light blue color although it has done anything but. In fact, I feel like it's gotten even more pinky/purpley. Could just be my eyes playing tricks on me though.

I would like to get her a mate/companion but want to make sure with absolute certainty her gender before that happens. As of now, I'm just confused.

Does this bird have color on the lower half of it's body?... If so, then I'd say 100% recessive pied male. Also, what do the wings look like?

Some females can take a year to get the white/tan/brown on their cere. But if it's got the lower half of the body blue, then I'd say definitely a male.

Oh, and a boy name that sounds like Opal .. would be Apollo...

Thanks guys. Hehe Opal is a confusing little booger.

Opal is a beautiful lacewing. She's all white with cinnimon markings and red eyes. ^^ Her mother was a lacewing and her father was normal blue split lacewing.

You mean, He's a lacewing... lacewings, like albinos, at young ages are all pink if boy... blue/white if girl. I see all pink on the cere.... so boy

Chirper's comparison picture of her mother pretty much tell's the story in my opinion. The pic's on my screen look more lilac colored then pink/purple, and in a couple of pic's seem to have real definite rings around nares. I would be very surprised if this turn's out to be a boy. Either way in a few month's time the jury will be in. A most beautiful bird....
