Default Budgie harness

Had anyone had success with a budgie harness? I've heard that they are to small for them, even though they make them for their size.

Hi, JW --

We don't recommend trying a budgie harness because of how small and fragile a budgie's bones are.

The risk of injury to the budgie is just too great.

That is what I've heard. Was wondering if there were any actual experiences with a budgie harness. I've looked around, and everyone says they aren't good, but no one has ever said, "I tried one" whether good experience or bad. So was curious to see actual experiences.

What about "flight suits" anyone give those a try?... I found a thread on a different forum that says that they had success with them.

Or what about this product... https://www.diapersforbirds.com/catal...ry=Jungle+Vest with a lanyard attached to it? ...

And I am just curious...

It is always good to research actual experience. However, it is obvious that budgies are fragile.
It may be that successful reports are mere luck.
If I read somewhere that one could jump from a second story window and that some people had successfully done so, I still would not do it.
Our budgies depend on us for everything, and that includes our common sense.
Instead of hunting for posts that agree with you, why not try to understand the reasoning that has been presented here, and consider it.

I'm not searching for myself, for one... and I'm not excluding what was said. I'm looking for evidence either way... Assuming I'm only searching for things that go with one way or the other is incorrect... I want both sides, with evidence. Not just say so... Which is why I disregard all the stupid posts on other sites that say "I use harness on my birds all the time, and I love them." but they aren't talking about budgies.

I once purchased a flight suit and couldn't get my budgie inside it, now matter how I tried. Though they sell them in budgie sizes, look for photos of budgies in one on the website-- I couldn't find one. It seems like budgies may just not be compatible with harnesses.

Okay, that didn't work... will relink pics

Pictures I can find plenty of... just having problems finding anyone talking negative about it ((besides here saying they are to fragile)) or positive about it ((besides dumb people talking good about their bigger birds flight suits))

Found this old thread here on TalkBudgies... good points are made, but there still doesn't seem to be any proof that the flight suits are unsafe. https://talkbudgies.com/general-budgi...-bad-idea.html

I had actually asked JW about this, as I have trained other slightly larger birds to harness and or flight suit with lots of success. I did not know it could be harmful to budgies. I had started conditioning him, putting it near then on his cage only. I will not do it if it's harmful, and I'm glad I looked more into it. I did find pictures and videos of budgies in the suits however. Thanks for asking JW...sorry people can be rude.

They're never trying to be rude. Just zealous about protecting budgies from harmful things. I just don't like blatant "It's harmful" statements without reasoning on it.
