Default Can someone age my budgies!?

Since I've had my budgies they've been developing quickly and I'm having doubts about whether the pet shop told me their true ages. Buddy should be four months now and boo six months. Judging by the stuff I've read they seem to be older. Can anyone age them accurately?

I'm only able to open the first photo you have attached, so will only give my opinion on your female budgie.
By looking at her overall physical appearance, to me she looks older than 6 months. I notice from the photo she appears to have clear white irises, budgies usually get the clear irises on their eyes when nearing adulthood at about 10 - 12 months of age.
After the budgie has the adult plumage, it's harder to give an accurate estimate on age, so we have to look at other aspects such as the cere colour (if it has the mature, adult colour), irises and overall build of body.

The first photo is an "older female" meaning that past her molt, and white iris, she looks in breeding condition. The second photo (blue opaline male ) also finishing or past molt, could be past 6 months or older.
Photo is a bit fuzzy so can't see if eyes have "rings".

Thanks aluz..her iris had a hint of brown that has disappeared in the last few weeks. Does that mean she is most likely to be around 10 months? Buddy's irises were black but in the last week have become very slightly visible. What does this mean for him?

Thanks philw..I've tried to put up a better picture. How old would u say the female is?

You're welcome!

If you have noticed a change on your girl's irises, then that's a good sign and means she's still in the growing process. And yes, if her irises have just turned more clear white in colour, then she can very well be 10 months old by now.

I'm now able to open the photo you attached on your last post. He is indeed younger, while his cere has a deep purplish colour it doesn't seem to have yet the mature royal blue colour. I'd say from that pic that he is 5 months old.

Thanks again. This problem started to really bug me since I realised the petshop may be wrong. I was worried I may not be able to age them, especially the female.

Heres a better pic of the male

I stand with my opinion on your boy being 5 months old. By the time males reach this age, we can notice the changes on the cere as it begins to get darker while going through the process of getting the mature colour on the cere. Your budgie is currently in this process.

Pet shop employees can also get genders wrong, not just ages.

Both your budgies are still fairly young and they make a beautiful pair.

Thanks everyone!I did look at info on ageing them and that's when I suspected they were older, but I wanted a second opinion to be sure. I'm happy knowing roughly what month they were born. Are the genders definitely correct?..u got me thinking aluz!and would u say the female is dilute?
