I'd like to describe a situation yesterday and get your feedback:
We are doing some deep cleaning and yesterday was the bird room.. Lemony had flown into our smaller spare cage (she really likes this cage for her 'alone time'). As we were cleaning carpets, I moved her in that cage and the others in the bigger cage to a different room for a few hours. I put them back and opened the door for the girls to be out of cage for a while. Oscar flew to the small cage and sat on the top. Even after 30 minutes, Lemony didn't want to come out and Oscar wouldn't leave her. She wouldn't step up and made gestures like she wanted to bite me (mouth open, head moving toward my finger), but didn't. I just talked to her quietly and she finally came to me and snuggled like she just wanted to be held. So I did. So un Lemony like. Was she just freaked out? Could this possibly mean she trusts me? That would be so awesome, but I'm not counting on it.
Today, she is her usual queenly self and consenting, after a suitable dramatic pause for effect, to let me give her a millet treat!!
How can this little girl be so complex??
