Default Cross-species feeding

Hey there! I still am the proud owner of both a budgie lady (Pacha) and a kakariki male (Houdini). As of late the two are getting along better and better, even to the point of... feeding each other? Just now Pacha hung herself from the edge of the cage where Houdini was sitting and they began feeding one another from their crop.

Wwwhhwhwhhwhwaaaat? I never knew cross-species feeding was a thing among budgies and kakariki? Just to be sure: there should be no harm in it, right?

Here they are by the way, always chilling nearby one another.

Your budgie and karkariki must really like each other a lot.

Pacha and Houdini feeding one another isn't anything to be concerned about.

That is a great picture. Both Pacha and Houdini are beautiful!

It's really sweet to witness these little demonstrations of affection between species and I'm glad Pacha and Houdini are such good friends!

My budgie Luigi, every time he meets my Fischer's lovebird Khaleesi, he enthusiastically greets him with kisses and some feeding as well.

Whelps, I managed to get it on film. I'm still really surprised by it, but I'm glad there's no harm to it (and it's actually a good thing!). I wonder what sparked this between the two, considering they seemingly just started doing it out of the blue, with Pacha still chasing Houdini and nipping at him.

Here's the video, including some background stunned/happy sounds from me while filming haha.

They are adorable, I use to have a budgie and a cocktail, they loved each other they lived together I didn't know at the time but the cage was to small for the tail alone but they were happy together, a couple of times I saw the budgie on top of her I thought they were playing but now I know that was not playing haha.
