Default My budgie makes me wonder....

My budgie dances. And now, he REALLY sings - he has always enjoyed being sung to, and I always thought it was the vibrations in my cheek from the melody (Strangers in the Night seems to be one he particularly likes), as he leans in and puts his head on my cheek when I sing it to him, or hum.

Just lately, he does a la la la lalala thing, with repetitions of "Berry Berry Berry" melodiously thrown in. No idea where the berry came from - maybe tv? But he has become a very enthusiastic performer.

He also has this strange thing where he totally mimics my laugh - intonation, pitch, amounts of laugh....everything. It actually sounds like its HIM having a good ole belly laugh!

Does anyone think that these funny little guys are capable of ....enjoyment? I dont suppose he'd sing and dance if he hated doing it, but he seems to be really throwing a lot into it. And the laugh! It's unnerving at times!

Of course they really deeply enjoy. Look at mothers caring for and teaching their brood. Our budgie companions are profound inspiration for me experiencing a wide range of feelings as they are family oriented birds. Enjoy
sharing the love. Jo Ann

I fully believe birds experience enjoyment and joy just as they experience all other emotions.

You little guy sounds like a real character and I'd LOVE to see a video of him performing!

La La La Berry Berry Berry La La Berry Berry Berry La La La!

Budget also loves us singing to him, he will sit as close as possible and place his beak on my lips if I let him. He then will push his little head into me if I stop. Rob sings that song Chirpy ,chirpy ,cheep ,cheep to him and he loves that as well. He sings those words himself now. I sing a silly little lot of words that I often change
but always end with I love you , I love you my little green man and he now says this .
And yes Budget has copied my laugh, and it is amazing how often he does it in the exact context.! SO I completely agree and feel they do know and understand feelings rather than what the words mean but they definitely are communicating with us.
