Default does your budgie gets scared from a sertian color or mutation?

Hi Guys

Like the title says, do you have a bird whose afraid of a particular mutation or color?

My male budgie Sam loves all the birds in the flock and he is a good friend with all of them, he is the first to welcome new arrivals and pair up with the females very quickly but, I found out that if you put a lutino bird with him he freaks out immediately and starts screaming and flying hysterically non stop trying to get as far away as possible from that said bird, he would even attack if s\he got really close.

this happens each time I put a lutino with him, he is fine with albinos

This is Sam by the way:

so, did something similar happened to any of you?

My budgies flee from my grey tiel quite often, but I don't think it relates to his color. Interesting stuff Abdo, will be watching to see if other's have had your experience...

Sam is beautiful....

In my 25+ years of budgie ownership, I never had a bird to react in such a way.
Budgies can ignore a flock mate or not be compatible when it comes to a potential breeding couple, but to have that reaction you mentioned, it's something I have never come across.
And the same applies to other species of pet birds.

yes Anna, it's very strange, that's why I thought I would share this with you guys.

I've had him since 2011 and tried to introduce him to several lutinos "not the same bird" throughout the years , always the same reaction.

I never had a bird react to another birds color but I used to have a bird that would not come near me if I had on anything red. Currently, if I have on certain shirts that have a lot of pattern in them my birds don't like it and shy away.
If you have on something yellow does it have the same effect on your bird?

My friend has a cockatiel who hates white. Not white birds, just anything white.

I know for the most part that Aero and Tweety hate my wrist support brace I wear almost all the time. They HATE the black one that works the best but grey, tan or white they have no issue with at all. Since I buy the one size fits all at the store I have to replace them every so many months but all they've had is black as of late. Not that big an issue since I always take it off when changing their food and water dishes and when cleaning the bottom of the cage.

I don't really know, maybe that's exactly it, will try to find out, but he is fine with golden faces, yellow faces and anything mixed with yellow "blue or green" .

I agree, I've never heard of this but I'm sure there's a reason! The irony in all of this is that Sam is mostly yellow

Interesting
