Default Temporary Budgie Cage

This isn't relevant to me right now but eventually will be.

I was looking into what I can do with my budgie friends if we have a family vacation. Asking a friend to take in 5 budgies is a bit much. So there's a business that cares for pets while you're on holiday. I've done some research and it seems a well respected place.

They take budgies and charge by the cage. Now, I won't be looking to go on holiday until next Autumn but I have been thinking about what to do with my budgies.

The quarantine cages I use are hagen vision small cages. Fine for a budgie to settle in with but not a viable living option.
The two boys are in a Piano 6 cage at the moment and eventually the girls will move in with them. All being well, they will remain in that cage forever. However, it's far too big to move about and use to take them to a holiday home for a couple of weeks.

So I'm wondering what the best thing to do would be. Would it be okay to downsize their cage for a while if it's only on a temporary basis, if all 4 birds live well together?
Would it be better to cage them in two sets of pairs (hoping that there's some bonding going to be going on with them.... ) even if they return all together afterwards?

And don't worry, I haven;t forgotten about Skye, but whatever happens with him if he stays a single budgie or gets a friend, is likely to stay in a separate cage from the others anyway even if he gets a friend.

It's good to plan ahead!

Can you get somebody to come to your house every day to look after your budgies? I am fortunate to have good neigbhours whose son does pet sitting at a reasonable price. There are companies that provide this service.

I am reluctant to board budgies at a place with other birds because of possible diseases that can be transmitted. But sometimes that is the only option.

I think the vision cage is too small for 4 budgies if they have to stay in it for several weeks. If the birds can fly around during the day, it would be ok.
If not, then I think it is better to have them in separate cages.

You have some time to find a good arrangement for your budgies. I hope you will find a good place for them.

Sigrid

Yes, I know the Vision cage is too small for them all. I was never planning on them going anywhere in it.
