Default Plenty of food for budgies, but only eating certain seeds and then eating newspaper?

I feed my budgies every morning and they only seem to eat certain seeds out of their mix, and then thy eat the newspaper off the bottom of the cage. What do I do?

Also how do I fill the food bowl and then get rid of the empty seeds shells so I don't waste any of their food when I throw the shells away?

If you shaking the bowl sideways in a rhythmic action the seed husk comes on top which you can blow off

Also try vegetables, pellets and soft/egg food to balance their diet see stickys in this link Diet and Nutrition - Talk Budgies Forums

Hi.. I feed mine (along w/pellets and some fresh veggies/fruits) a good quality seed mix... Every single day there are some seeds they don't eat. I guess, like us, there are foods they like better than others. Mine don't seem to like the nyger seeds (very dark small seeds) and all my birds leave them. They also aren't real partial to the red millet. I don't sweat it.. I replace their seed at least daily.
Re: the newspaper on the bottom (please don't use the glossy paper).. mine nibble this too. I add other options for them to chew.. like kabobs or other wood or cardboard toys... which they love. Mine also love to chew on carrot sticks... just some ideas.
Just my experience... others with more expertise will weigh in too, I'm sure.
Good luck..

I don't think they trust me enough yet to eat anything other than what they are used to that I give them.
