Default Tommy and Tuppence are home!

So my new babies arrived on Thanksgiving and have settled in really well! They cowered fluffed up together the first night, but since then have been eating and climbing around (I think they're looking for the escape hatch!).

So far, Tommy seems a little more quiet than Tuppence, who is quite brave and is the first to try all the new things.

She also tweets to Miss Marple downstairs in another room very enthusiastically!

Miss Marple returns the tweets, but more infrequently and with less enthusiasm. She's adjusted well to life downstairs. She pouted for the first day, but then next morning I made sure to eat my apple right in front of her and suddenly all was forgiven! She loves apple!!! She's learning to fly around in her new room and will play on her gym like always, so I'm relieved about that.

The new babies cage has those guillotine doors which I don't like, so we've been opening and closing them to demonstrate that baby budgies won't be murdered by doors opening and closing. They seem alert, but generally okay with that so far.

I'm still trying to decide if I should buy another cage and separate them so that I can tame them more easily...

Thoughts?

Wow....congrat's....they are certainly pretty boy's. No doubt your taming and bonding will go easier if they are separated...

Awwww, they are soooo cute!

Yes, it will be easier if you work with them one on one. You could keep them together and simply move one into the other cage when you are ready for your daily training and bonding sessons. Moving the cage into a different room to prevent whichever one you are working with being distracted by the other will be helpful as well.

Thanks!!

Yes, I agree FaeryBee, I think I will do that.

I was also thinking, at the end of quarantine, maybe it would be a good idea to swap cages and let them get used to Miss Marple's big cage without her there, just for a few days.

She'll be annoyed with the smaller cage, but maybe it would help alleviate some of the territoriality, as well as give the babies a chance to get familiar with the bigger digs in safety.

Aw, Tommy and Tuppence are both adorable and have such pretty colors and markings. I found that once I introduced tame, handfed Mink to wild Twigs in the same cage, she started going wild too. I imagine if I had a ton more time on my hands I could have kept that from happening, even in the same cage. Good luck!

Aww, they are stunning

They look so adorable huddled together!

I can't wait to see more of them and I'm sure Miss Marple will be thrilled when she can meet her new friends
