Default Zoo Med Avian Sun UVB bulb

Hello there. I am in the process of purchasing the zoo med avian sun 5.0 UVB bulb. I was wondering if this bulb can be used with any regular lamps. Or is it required to be used with a specific type of lamp. Would it be unsafe?

I found the following information on one of the bird-supply websites

Zoo Med Avian Sun 5.0 UVB Bulb

CRI = 88
5% UVB
7500 K
26 Watt bulb

This bulb fits in the Zoo Med lamps and some similar lamps.
It screws in to regular fixtures, but is very long.

Position the bulb so that it is 12" above your bird when sitting on the highest perch. For birds that receive less sunlight in nature, the bulb can be positioned 18" above the bird when sitting on the highest perch.

DO NOT position the bulb where the bird will have to look into the bulb to look out of the cage, or on the side of the cage. The bulb should be above the bird at all times.

Are these bulbs essential to purchase? Or can I just have my birds next to Windows for a few hours to get sunlight
