Default Plastic swing

My mum was away for a few days this week and I had to be minded by a friend. I don't mind too much, but I never say a word when my mum is away. I wouldn't want anyone to think I actually like all this change

Anyway, my mum came home late last night and came in to check on me. I was on my little plastic swing in the cage. I think she was surprised, as I've only ever used that swing if she lifted me up on it... So I stayed there all night, and now she'll all concerned.

This is how she found me this morning:

I've had two other plastic swings and I didn't really like them. They took up too much space in my cage. I also have my big-bird-swing, but it's not in my cage, so I can only use it for naps.

Does my mum need to worry about me sitting on a plastic swing all night? Is she going to take it away from me if I do it again?

In other news, I'm SO happy to have my play tree again. 4 days in the cage seemed like a very long time! Look! I'm quite the acrobat

Since your Princess Jakob has perches of different sizes and textures, it's not harmful to have slept on a plastic swing during the night. There are also small swings of about the same size of that plastic one that have the perch made out of wood. My budgies have these and they all love and choose to sleep on them for the night.

Currently only one of my lovebird pairs has a plastic swing because the wooden ones don't last long as they chew them all up. While my lovies don't sleep on the swing, my female Sindel spends time playing and riding on hers on a daily basis and her feet are perfect I've never had trouble since she has a variety of perches to be on.

Thanks a mill for the information. Jakob tried one of the small wooden swings, but she said no This one seems to be the one - I just never expected her to spend the entire night on the swing...

Jakob has had time to become adjusted and choose exactly where and what she likes. Sounds like the plastic swing is a winner, it is natural for them to spend the night in the one place that they see a their sleeping perch.

Maybe Jakob is still looking for that perfect place to sleep. I always bring her to the same perch, but that's not always where she sleeps She's yet to learn to fly back to the cage on her own. She actually knows how to, but she only does it if she gets scared. Anyway, she was on the little plastic swing again this morning when she woke up, so she must like it

It's funny, I have found my own flock initially against the swing as though it's evil but once they get the hang of it, they seem to love it so much!
And I think there's nothing cuter than a budgie on a swing!

Definitely very cute to see a budgie on a swing. Jakob had several others, but the only one she ever really uses is her big wooden swing that hangs from the ceiling. And as she sleeps in the cage, she obviously can't sleep on that swing. This might be her new thing

My last budgie, Georgie, always slept on her swing at night. As soon as I put the lights out, she went on to it, made a 'good night' chirping sound, and that was her for the night. She never had any foot problems so hopefully yours will be OK too.:-)

I'm glad little Jakob has taken to her swing

Mallorn was like that, too, she had a perch she never used and one day I came back from shopping and she was sitting on it, and furthermore, she even slept on it that night! I suppose it takes time sometimes for them to figure out what the like haha
