Default I found an easy way for me not to buy budgies

So we had to stop by a local pet store today so I can pick up some bird seed for sapphire &sprite. And you know when you're in a pet store you can not look at the birds so me and My son are looking and they had quite a few to varieties one of them was a white with grey patches throughout its body and I stood there and looked at it and said Its a little girl and the lady at the counter proceeded to tell me I know you can't sex the birds this young you have to wait till they were at least a year old before you get a definitive sex so she walked away and I continue telling my son about the different birds in their cerars and how if it's dark blue it is a boy and if it's light blue with white rings its a girl.than the sales lady came over again and continue to argue with me about no they need to go through moltsand you need to wait a year before you get a definitive sexy well I just turned me off altogether I bit my tongue bought the bird seed walked out of the store the end

This is the same thing that happened to my friend when she went to buy a bird, except they told her blue for a boy, pink for a girl and they were convinced she'd picked a female budgie when she wanted a male. Luckily, she knew what she was doing, unlike the sales person!

Sadly this kind of thing happens all the time, also employing young and inexperienced kids irks me as well. I know they need to start out somewhere but when handling any animals it should be a person with some background or similar knowledge on sexing and how to hold or pick up the said animal, be it a bird, puppy or kitten.

I was going to say what Randy said... Maybe she needs to join this forum haha. Sadly, I don't think pet shop employees are trained very well, and most certainly aren't experts.
