Default Ideas for outside on the side of the cage play areas?

I bought another black A&E flight cage. I already have one and the new one will replace the smaller blue and black wire cage in the photo below. I do not want a top play area. The cage top is too hard for me to reach the top without standing on a step stool; thus would be too difficult to clean and too difficult to retrieve birds from the top area of the cages.

I was hoping for some great inspiration for side play areas on the cage or between the two flight cages. I have a budgie and a cockatiel but the play area will mainly be for the budgie. Tico the budgie is the one that plays the most on and around the cages. Grayson the tiel either stays in his cage or sits on my shoulder, he is a bit of a coach potato. Please either describe your ideas in detail, provide links and/or post pictures. Thank you, I lack imagination so could use a little guidance in this area.

Current set up. The little cage will be replaced with an identical A&E flight cage. I just don't have the new cage yet since it is still in transit.

Hmm... Personally, I would go for a tree stand or something similar between the cages so they can hop from cage to cage and play in between.

Here's a post I found that has a really cool one:

I think that's a good option for low-maintainance playing

I have a small home made play area that sits on top of the smallest of my cages (so is lower down) but I also use rope perches on the front of the cage. Everything else I have for them is higher up so I can't really think of anything helpful.
I'm sure others will have some good suggestions.

Yah, I'd say a play tree would be a good thing.

Hello I agree with the tree play stand, they are simple enough to make. Get a branch from the backyard or nearby tree make sure it is a safe type of wood first though. Then thoroughly clean it.
Then all you have to do is hang a swing, some shredder toys, whatever you have or want to add. Also ladders, bells, boings, my guys love simply scratching and nibbling on theirs too.

Thanks, unfortunately I don't have access to tree branches that would be safe. Everything in the yard area has been subject to pesticides and chemical fertilizer. I am looking for affordable branch sources but if I can't find anything I will just use what I have on hand a combination of rope perches, nightstand and tabletop play gym. I have found an inexpensive source for a climbing net so I may try that or the Kaytee metal play stand that is designed for smaller birds. We have a suspended ceiling so I have also thought about buying hooks that snap on the metal supports and hanging a lot of suspension toys, like boings, hanging gyms etc. It would be easy enough to use sisal rope to lower the suspended toys to a height I can handle.

I have time to ponder. The cage is here a few days early but the assembly will have to wait. I have back and wrist injuries from the tremendous amount of lifting I do daily. I'm trying rest and see if I can get it to heal up a bit.

You can try simply looking up "budgie playground ideas," there are tons of neat ideas out there. Also check the diy stuff, pvc piping and tinker toys work great.

How bout some ladders and rope perches attached between the two cages? You could have a play gym on the stand and also attach toys from ladders rungs as a way to suspend them.
