have you ever experiencd a moment of strong closeness/understanding with your budgie
something happened yesterday that was rather heart warming. The experience of it still stays with me.
After the incident i experienced a moment of a strong bond/understanding with Jessie.
its rather a long story but i just thought id share it with you guys as i am still rather surprised at the level of complete trust she showed to me.
yesterday i had company over and didn't notice that the person left her bag on the floor. (Jessie has a bit of a thing with handbag, i always hide them from her). Anyway after about 5 minutes i realized that Jessie didn't seem to be around interacting and playing with us, so i looked around the room for her and then heard a rustling in my friends handbag, so my friend put her hand in the bag and Jessie bit her, so i went to the bag to get her out, and as soon as i put my hand in, she stopped biting and she was laying on her back caught up in cotton that she had obviously chewed off the inside of the bag, one piece was caught over her wing, one piece around her neck and the other piece around her foot, she was pinned down. i completely PANICKED, i was trembling and worried that she was going to die or have a broken wing or something, the cotton around the neck is what made me panic the most as she could have strangled herself at any moment.
i tried to untangle her but i couldn't get it off her, so i ran to the kitchen and got some scissors, and i came back and put my hand in the bag and held her in my hand as still as i could as i was trembling and didn't want her wiggling around while I'm trying to use scissors.
she completely submitted , she sat perfectly still while i held her and cut her free, it was as if she realized i was trying to help her. and then i cut off the final piece of cotton from her wing and she was free. i was so scared that she was injured so i checked her wing and legs and she was still sitting in my hand letting me touch her wing and legs. and as i was checking her over i was crying, then Jessie nibbled on my bottom lip and let out quiet little chirps then she nibbled on my eye lashes gently.
but the experience was so heart warming. at the moment it was like she realized i had helped her and realized i was upset and was trying to comfort me.
have any of you guys ever experienced anything like that with your bird?
Yes... I've seen this many times.. let's see.
Lina once had a trouble with a shredding toy. It was one of those toys that had strings (darned toy) and her leg was caught. She started screaming and tried to take it out on her own. As soon as my father and I arrived, she stopped doing anything and let us touch her, remove that strings on her leg and then let us hold her for some time in order to see if there is any injury. She really trusted us on this!
Then, during her first flight she flew to my curtains and stayed there for at least half an hour. I went there and she perched on my hand right away. Then I put her back to her cage.
My departed Phillip, being in my house for only 10 days, being injured, held by a vet and untamed, one morning came closer to where I was and let me rub his little head!
I think budgies see us as their parents and they trust us enough... and love us unconditionally.
Ive had an experience like that. My last budgie Bob got his feet caught in the carpet. He kept perfectly still and watched as i gently got his foot free. When ever he was in trouble, as soon as he saw me he stopped struggling and waited for me to help him. Its such a heart warming feeling knowing they completely trust you
