I have a budgie that is in a nice size cage with lots of toys and different perches and very bright, lots of room for her to move around, we were just recently given a bird mansion that is taller, wider but not as deep or bright in colour, do you think this cage is ok for her?
Welcome to the forum
It would be helpful if you could upload a photo of both the old cage and the new cage for comparison, generally budgies are better off in large rectangular cages where the width is greater than the height, if the cage is tall then the bird will only use the top half of the cage, give a budgie a wide cage and it will use all of the cage by flying from perch to perch and using the bars to climb, the ideal cage should have both horizontal and vertical bars, the bar spacing should be no more than 1/2 inch (13mm)
The cage should be big enough for the bird to fly from perch to perch, toys should of course be provided but not so many that it clutters the cage, ideally the toys should be rotated often so that your bird doesn't get bored with the same toys every day.
I hope this helps you make a decision and look forward to seeing photos of the cage setup as well as your feathered friend of course
I'm going to second pictures for comparison. Also, for what it's worth, while most budgies do only use the top half of a tall cage, I find my two like to use the entire cage. It might partly be because I try and make the entire cage interesting to play in, or it could just be that like me they are a couple of weirdos. If all else fails, you can keep both cages, try both out, and see what your bebe likes best. Just make sure both cages are indeed budgie safe cages (not too big spacing between bars, no rust or bad coatings on the cage walls, etc).
The dimensions of this cage are
Interior Measures: 31"Long x 20"Wide x 45"High
(53" high including the attached stand)
