It was quite heartbreaking for my family & Reebok. But she seems to be coping well- she's eating, chirping & playing.
However, the only odd behavior is that she's now scared of my hands. Earlier she wasn't too fond of being touched, but she'd gladly sit on my palms & chirp. After losing Nike, seems like she's very apprehensive. Also, she's scared of my cell phone, sudden hand/body movements & looks stressed if I try to hold her.
Pls advice, does she need another companion? I don't want to get another one because there aren't avian vets here. Can I develop a bond with Reebok as a solo bird? I'm trying my best to comfort her but seems like she isn't trusting me.
I think you should go through the bonding section of the forum and start from scratch as though she is a new bird and work on starting to form a bond between just the two of you.
She's probably frightened because of hos things have changed but she will likely adjust with time.
I agree, Reebok is just seeing life without her buddy Nike, and she may react differently to certain scenarios. Work on getting her to trust you as if she were a new bird, so that she has time to adjust to the change and start to build a greater bond with you.
and Princess Mallorn!
Thank you to Deb for her wonderful Faery magic
