I know this is long overdue

Hey Everyone

I know this long overdue but as you know life gets in the way :giggle:

I would like to thank everyone who assisted me with my baby budgies as they were hatching right up until they were able to be on their own.

The babies are doing fantastic, I have had a couple issues but nothing I haven't been able to handle on my own. For as much as I handled them when they were very little they, sadly, are not hand tame yet and have been trying so hard to get them there but it just hasn't happened. They are super healthy but the female seems to be eating quite a bit so I have been keeping down their food amounts so that they don't gain a lot of extra weight.

After the babies were old enough I began to detect problems with the mother trying to be dominant over her only female among the boys so I did not hesitate to separate her. Since I have separated her, she has developed a habit of being mean. I don't know if this is because I had to split her away from her babies or if it's because she had babies at such an older age it messed with her hormones. She still goes through a laying cycle pushing out one to two eggs at a time but I remove them as soon as I notice them. She is healthy otherwise, eating normally, drinking normally, playing with her toys, still happily chirps but she has her moments where she sounds like she is angry about something.

I had Cloud and Apollo together after the babies were able to fend for themselves until Apollo slightly injured his foot then developed a complication where Cloud would pick on Apollo so I put Cloud back in with his babies. Ever since, ZERO problems. Everyone is happy and healthy.

I would like to point out that A couple months ago my oldest girl, Ricki, which I am sure some of you are familiar with, lost her fight against life and passed away at 13 years old. This was back in May after I got back from Winnipeg since I had to make an unexpected flight home (Originally from Winnipeg, it'll always be my home) for a family emergency. It was a couple weeks after I got home to Red Deer that Ricki passed away.

Its been nothing short of chaotic around here but all my animals are doing fantastic and we are all adjusting just fine. So again I would just like to send out "chirp" outs (shout outs but in bird form) to all of you who assisted me with the babies from the beginning and now I have experience that I can carry with should this happen again but I am hoping not anytime soon :giggle: since my other animals also need my focus as well, especially my young bunny who I have been trying to get used to human social interaction. Its a slow going process but we are getting there.

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. :budgie:

Hey hun I am very new to this site and Budgie owning but I would like to express my sympathy for the loss of your birdy. Its never easy no matter how old or sick they are when they do eventually go.

Sounds like you have had quite a busy time! I hope things settle down for you :) My sunday is a quiet one so far x
