Red face Which cage is better?

So I got my budgies a new cage. It's a prevue Hendrix flight cage. It's a smaller one sold at petsmart. It has roof style houses but the problem is the door, three sliding doors but no way to just open it like I used to. I love the old cage but it's about 15x15 and 25 high. I have two budgies. I am contemplating returning the cage because I don't like it as much as the old one. I really miss the door. But the new one is longer than high so it's nice in that sense but it still seems crowded. And the old one is smallish but always looked to have enough room. What should I do? On a side note I was wondering if anyone has ever tried fabric on the base to collect poo rather than newspaper? (My budgies eat pellets instead of seed.. Seed on occasion still but more for a training aid.)

This cage? If so it isn't big enough for 2 birds. If you need to go inexpensive then something like this will meed bare minimum requirements. Here is a pricier but sturdier options HomCom flight or Prevue F040.

I have the homcom cage and yes, the cage can be easily separated from the stand. However it does not have a solid bottom- only a frame that holds the tray and grate in place. if you set it on something other than the stand, it would probably need to be big enough for the bottom of the cage to fit on it fully. That being said, Lola and Ringo love this cage and I find it easy to clean.
