Hi everyone, I have a decorating safety question. I have emulsion painted my kitchen, I glossed with low LOC a small area of skirting board too on last Friday.
Our Chiquito lives in the lounge usually, which is the room next to kitchen separated by a door which closes properly. We took chiqui upstairs bedroom which is a well ventilated room, last week but wondering when it's safe to put him back into the lounge as he gets more company and activity down there. Is it safe yet? It's been 5 days.
By the way we found a great lady who makes handmade, safe budgie toys, from 100% safe materials. Isn't his swing great!
As far as I know, budgies have a very poor sense of smell but it's still better to be safe than sorry. So I guess just keep the room well-ventilated for a few more days and hopefully by then it will be safe.
Oh my god that swing is so beautiful! And he looks absolutely adorable in it!
Hello. Thank you for the answers, I can't smell any paint anymore, but I know it's not the smell it's the risk of chemicals that's dangerous so think I'll take the advice and wait another couple days. Madeleine has been playing with him in her bedroom and he's very chirpy in there for now so I will give it couple more days to be 100% sure all danger has passed. I'm paranoid it'll harm his little lungs. Better safe than sorry. Thank you very much xx
Hi everyone we moved Chiquito downstairs today and he's enjoying being back in the lounge with all the daily activity. The swing came from Yvonne at Pine4parrots online. He's really bonded with Maddie & I now, loves to groom us and sits and puffs himself up, he's beginning to chatter now too which is sweet. He's 9wks old now. Thank you for your advice and comments. Hope all your Budgies are happy & well xx
