WE MADE IT!!! Everything went very well, I'm quite pleased.
I dropped the budgies off at the World Wide Animal Travel office at Vancouver airport and the woman in charge of my file, Catherine, was the one who accepted them and gave me all the papers and such. They also had a beautiful blue quaker that lives at the office in a huge cage with lots of toys and such. Just seeing that I knew they would know a bit and care about birds as more than 'just cargo', you know?
Anyway, when the flight was over and the cats completely betrayed by me, we had to go and pick up the birds from the cargo hold area. It was a giant warehouse type deal (Air Canada Cargo building as we flew through Air Canada) and they keep the pets in a heated area. W got them super quick and were on our way! The budgies didn't even seem too rattled, but were sitting next to each other, silent. On the way home in the car Sweetie started peeping at Rob woefully, but little peeps are better than no peeps.
Now they are sitting on a table in their travel cage in front of me with fresh food and water and some lettuce at the house we are temp staying at until we get to the place we've rented later today.
I'll post some pictures then
