Default Identify the flock

We are enthusiasts yet novices. Our flock has just enhanced by the addition of Blueberry, very young, female English Budgie (we think). The others from left to right (all rather young) are Kiwi, Mango, Sky and Breeze. Sky and Breeze have been with us the longest, 2 years, adding Mango about 6 months ago. Kiwi joined the flock about 2 months ago and we soon saw that Sky and Mango paired off and hoped to see Breeze and Kiwi become enthralled with each other. About 3 weeks ago we brought Blueberry into our home and after a quarantine period (3 weeks - long enough?) moved her into the commune. Now it seems Blueberry is smitten with Breeze and is determined to perch right next to him wherever and whenever possible. Any info will be absorbed and appreciated. We also share our abode with a couple of lively and lovely finches and our backyard is a haven and feed trough for a multitude of songbirds and travelers who compete with the squirrels for the buffet we serve. Thanks for your time, we look forward to your responses.

Welcome to the forums! You have certainly come to the right place as you will find all you need to know on budgie care here.

Your Blueberry really is a beautiful young female. From that first photo the green budgie on the right is a male and the one next to him is likely a female (the cere looks brown in colour). The second photo is just too dark and it makes it really difficult to see the colours on the cere for an accurate gender ID.

Updated picture of the "green team". As you can see, the two guys on the right, (Sky and Breeze) both are about 2 years old and have a very dark blue cere and the two young ladies on the left are under 6 months old (to our knowledge) and have a very pale, light pink cere.
Additionally included our Fearless Finches, Luke and Lilly, young Zebras.

Yes, Sky and Breeze are males. Your other budgies I'm still unable to properly see their ceres. Immature males have uniform pinkish/purplish ceres while young immature females will have very light bluish mingled with white ceres and white circles around the nostril area. As they grow, the white colour will spread more evenly on the cere and when first reaching maturity and breeding condition the cere will start to progressively get a tan colour till reaching a dark brown colour.

Hi there and to Talk Budgies!

You have a precious little flock for sure! Blueberry is a beautiful little girl From the picture of her, she actually doesn't look like an English budgie, which tend to have larger throat spots and more feathering

As for gender, Aluz has given the very best analysis! Of course, more close-ups would help if you're unsure on Kiwi and Mango's gender

We'd love to see more of them either way and look forward to seeing lots more of your quintet in the days to come!

Meanwhile, be sure to read through the links provided as they will ensure you're up to date on the best budgie care! Feel free to ask questions after reading through everything

Hope to see you around and we're glad you've joined us!
