Misty is back!
Hi everyone ^^,

Me and misty have been enjoying life together :') Infact misty enjoys nothing more than riding around on my head!!

Anyway, when misty was younger I was advised my lil budg was probably a girl. I have a few recent pics and video to share to hear your thoughts now.. The reason I'm keen is because I want to get misty a companion! And his/her mannerisms throws me off the trail!!

any help is greatly appreciated - I don't want to take misty to the vets unless I really do need to, as I want to avoid a possible stressful experience.

Few weeks ago misty was moulting big time but this has subsided for now..

Here you can see the blue tint misty has acquired!!

And a video incase it's useful

Thanks xxx

What a lovely bird Misty is! Great photos. He is responding so well to you in the video, he clearly loves interacting with you. Such a joy to see.
As for the gender, will leave that to those who know!

I've corrected the links so the pictures show up in your post.
{Use the code in the last box on PhotoBucket in the future ;)]

Misty is a beautiful little female and seems to be quite happy and playful. :D

It's great to see your Misty again, she has truly been growing beautifully!
And her gender hasn't switched since last time, she is 100% female and her cere is now beginning to get the tan colour.

Haha :') yay okay that's okay then!! I've got used to saying she!

So I've been researching about companions and another girl is probably a no?! She's absolutely obsessed with me and she's super happy but I work.. And leaving her alone makes me sad :/

Thanks for fixing the pics xxx

How much time per day do you spend interacting with her?

I'm assuming you leave the radio or TV on for her when you are out?

Her dynamics with you will change if you choose to get another budgie whether you choose to get a female or a male.

Remember that quarantine of the new bird is very important.

Quarantine means housing your new bird in a different cage in a different room as far away as possible from the room where your current bird(s) are housed for a period of 30-45 days.
Budgies mask symptoms when they are ill. Symptoms may not show up for over two weeks.
Often you will not even realize your bird is not well. Many budgie illnesses are airborne which is why you need to quarantine your new bird in a completely different room.

It is also a good idea to always take a new budgie in to see an Avian Vet for a "well-birdie" check-up. This allows you to develop a good relationship with the vet and the vet can establish a baseline for your bird in case of any future illnesses or injuries.

Misty is just the most adorable little girl! She looks so stately after her big-girl moult :king:

What a sweetheart, and so clever, too! I'd love a video of her talking, if you can get one ;)

Yes I leave the tv on or the radio! She prefers the tv.

I spend all my time with her when I'm home from work so at least 5 hours a day including before I go to work and then after. My husband spends time with her also, he likes to 'chill watching tv' with little Misty :') he stays up later than me so that's another hour or so..

I've also gotten her the largest cage I could get my hands on and she loves it in there!

Recently I've rotated her toys/ perches etc for a new environment and she chooses to go in there and come out as she pleases (to roost in my hair haha).

She's definitely clocked on to my phone though and stops taking when I try and film her :') will keep trying though xx
