Default While on a walk......

....a friend can across this little budgie in the middle of nowhere!!

Not the best pics but it was scared for obvious reasons! She got a small cage, some food and stuff for his little house in the hope of finding its owner....she's gonna get better pics when he settles a bit.

I'm thinking it's a "HE" and possibly a dark green recessive pied budgie but as you can see he has a blue tail!

I'm also thinking he is a very young one based on the bars and lack of cheek spots.

Whatever the gender and mutation, it sure is a cute little budgie!!

Any input on gender and mutation would be greatly appreciated!!

Melissa,

How fortunate your friend was able to rescue the little one! S/he really is beautiful

Unfortunately, from the pictures, it's pretty difficult to confirm the gender or mutation

Although the shape of the cere looks male, the overal colour, which appears to be whitish blue, would indicate female. It's hard to see the true colour because of the angle of the light as well as how far away the picture was taken.

Also, I can tell you s/he is opaline, and as you've already seen, is recessive pied. S/he doesn't appear to be dark green. I would venture to guess mauve goldenface opaline, which would blend together and make a darkish grey-green.

You're right that this little one seems to be pretty young, I can't give you an estimate, though, Ana is better at that

At any rate, once the little fellow settles in and she's able to get more pictures, I'd reckon we'd be able to tell then

Thanks for the responses!! I figured the pic was too far which is why I asked for closer pics ounces it settles in a few days!

When I was close in the mutation with the recessive pied part and I did consider Opaline as well because it looks a lot like my Opaline girls!!

I will post better pics once I get them!!

StarlingWings, how is Princess Mallorn (not sure of spelling)? JellyBean & Peanut (or BlueBerry Cakes) are doing well and even more gorgeous!! I've been trying to get pics but they dart as soon as they see a camera which makes for blurry budgies that just look like smears in a pic!!

Looks like a hen, both from cere and the amount of markings. I think it is far too yellow to be a blue bird, so am going to say I think it is a Grey Green Recessive Pied Opaline.

Hi, Melissa!

From the last picture you posted I agree that the little budgie is a female.

Best wishes to your friend in finding the owner.

Hi Melissa!

It's great your friend has managed to rescue this budgie! From the photos I'm also inclined to say this budgie is a female.
She's a recessive pied and on my computer screen I'm seeing a bluish colour on her feathers, and if she really has a blue tail feathers, then maybe she is a cobalt blue, single factor golden face.

I hope your friend will be able to reunite the budgie with the owners.

I agree, she is a beautiful little girl! I think Aluz is correct with regards to mutation, but later pictures would probably help anyways.

We'd never say no to more pictures!

Does she have a name yet?

Mallorn is doing wonderfully, thanks for asking I look forward to seeing pictures of the girls, too, when you're able to get some
