Good morning new friends,
I brought my two new rescue budgies and cockatiel home last night. I thought I was getting a male and female budgie but I'm thinking theyre both girls.
Turns out the lady had only had them for about a month, and was terrified of them. When I went to pick them up she was going to put them in boxes for me and she came at them (all 3 were housed together) with a HUGE bath towel. They were of course frightened to death. I couldn't stand it anymore and when I offered to catch them, she said "sure, I'm afraid of them"...
I couldn't help thinking "and they're terrified of you."
Anyway, I reached in slowly with no towel, cornered them and gently put them in their boxes.
The budgies are in a cage together now and the tiel is in a big cage by himself. I'm not going to do anything with them for a few days as I'm sure they were traumatized enough yesterday. They are in a different room than my baby boys but seem quite content as all of them are making happy chirps with the occasional squawk
I'm sooo HAPPY today!!
