Default New Budgies Are Home!

Good morning new friends,

I brought my two new rescue budgies and cockatiel home last night. I thought I was getting a male and female budgie but I'm thinking theyre both girls.
Turns out the lady had only had them for about a month, and was terrified of them. When I went to pick them up she was going to put them in boxes for me and she came at them (all 3 were housed together) with a HUGE bath towel. They were of course frightened to death. I couldn't stand it anymore and when I offered to catch them, she said "sure, I'm afraid of them"...
I couldn't help thinking "and they're terrified of you."

Anyway, I reached in slowly with no towel, cornered them and gently put them in their boxes.

The budgies are in a cage together now and the tiel is in a big cage by himself. I'm not going to do anything with them for a few days as I'm sure they were traumatized enough yesterday. They are in a different room than my baby boys but seem quite content as all of them are making happy chirps with the occasional squawk I'm sooo HAPPY today!!

That's wonderful news, Stacy!

I wonder why on earth she got both a cockatiel and budgies if she was so terrified of them?

No matter -- they all three are obviously going to be MUCH better off with YOU! Congratulations

Thank you
I'm a homebody to begin with, now I'm never going to want to leave my house. Some people get annoyed with the constant chatter of budgies but my Limón and Cielo are starting to pick up certain whistles and trying to speak, so I love listening carefully

I'm so glad the babies are home safely, Stacy!

They really are very lucky to have such a great rescuer

Since you named your 'tiel Cochise (which is an amazing name, I it!), may I suggest Hinto for the blue guy? It means "blue" in Lakota

Thanks again, I'm happy to have them here. They all seem to be doing well and happy.
The parakeets are now eating parakeet food instead of cockatiel food, and the millet spray holder was the first thing to go. I have a feeling the main part of their diet was the millet.

Oh and the name suggestion is cool. It's on my list now

Starling dear,
I think I'm going to take your idea and tweak it for the new baby's name... I'll call him/her Lakota ... likely shorten it to Kota. Thanks, I like the sound of that you rock!!!

That's a gorgeous name--I love it!

Glad I could help you think of a name It's nice and unisex, too--in case "he" is a "she"--and vice versa

I think Lakota fits him perfectly with his bright colours. He's like turquoise!
