Do I need to quarantine a young female budgie from same shop as others I buy from? I plan to have her meet storm in his cage. She is also a yellow budgie not sure if she is a living or what. Maybe a pied budgie? Will post a picture of her Monday.:green pied::):):yellow:

Yes, you should quarantine the new bird. You do not know what it may have been exposed to during the difference in time since you bought Storm.

Quarantine means housing your new bird in a different cage in a different room as far away as possible from the room where your current bird(s) are housed for a period of 30-45 days.
Budgies mask symptoms when they are ill. Symptoms may not show up for over two weeks.
Often you will not even realize your bird is not well. Many budgie illnesses are airborne which is why you need to quarantine your new bird in a completely different room.

It is also a good idea to always take a new budgie in to see an Avian Vet for a "well-birdie" check-up. This allows you to develop a good relationship with the vet and the vet can establish a baseline for your bird in case of any future illnesses or injuries.

When you are ready to introduce your two budgies after the 45 day quarantine period, please be sure to introduce them in neutral territory. Sometimes having two or three supervised meetings prior to moving them into one cage is advisable. Before introducing a budgie into another budgie's cage, the cage should be completely rearranged (perches, toys, food and water dishes) in order to help prevent any potential territorial issues. :)

Since you will have a female and male, it is important you do everything required to prevent breeding.

:) greetings I also agree with faerybee as well.even though they come from the same place.its important to keep separate for the 45 day quarantine to make sure the budgie is alright.then after that is over the slow introduction can start.

Hopefully they will get along with each other.:) just waiting on that wonderful day when they can spend time together and hopefully both will bond with you as well.they are such a joy and delight to have around.

I hope all goes Well for your budgies and many happy years with you together.blessings and take care.
