Default Levi

I ended up purchasing a new feathered friend to help me deal with the lost of my baby Dale.

The new baby has much more of a laid back personality. I decided to name it Levi. Levi's cere is blue so I am assuming Levi is a boy, but I am not very great at gendering budgies. Dale will hold a place close to my heart always. Levi and Dale are both my special babies

Congratulations on your new budgie friend!
Levi is a gorgeous male budgie, his cere already has the mature colour.
From those pics, I'd say he is about 6 - 7 months old.

I'm moving this thread to the New Budgie Arrivals section, where it's most appropriate.

Congratulations on your new baby boy!

Levi is precious and I'm sure his presence will help you to remember all the little things you loved about Dale, too.

I hope to see lots more of this cutie!

You will have years to appreciate your new young budgie, Levi. Sorry about Dale, seems you spent good time with him and the memories are new and clear about him.

I have Levi for about 24 hours and his poop is green and very watery. I am very concerned.I am not sure if he acting like his normal self either because I have only known him for a day. Could this be stress? What should I do?

Levi is stunning! He resembles my Lyla quite closely!

It more than likely is just stress related, but if it continues to look that way for more than it takes him to settle in, I would seek veterinary help. My birds don't serve as a very good example being that they settled in so fast, so their poop went back to normal pretty quick. But it is normal for birds to have some watery dropping when you first bring them home due to the stress of being somewhere new. My birds still do this when I take them to the vet.

Don't worry, try not to get nervous about Levi. It's perfectly normal for him to have watery poops even a few days after you first get him

Just help him settle in with some soft music and covering his cage if he needs it, and I'm sure as soon as he's more comfortable, his stools should clear up

Levis stool is normal again ! Thank you so much everybody for reassuring me. Now just to work on getting little Levi hand tamed. He doesn't chirp much around me, but everyone assures me that he is a biggg chirpper when I am out. He has started caring much more for when I talk to him now to. In my eyes Levi is making such great process! I can't wait until I can hold and cuddle with my little Levi !!

Levi is absolutely adorable!
I'm glad you believe he is settling in well.

Please remember that not all budgies like to be held and cuddled - even some that are hand tamed prefer not to be touched. Not all budgies are alike - each one has its own unique personality.

Taming and Bonding is all about helping your budgie learn to trust you and it takes a great deal of time and patience on your part.
You should never grab your budgie or force him to be touched.
To bond with your budgie, you need to build his trust in you.
He will have to learn over time that you will not hurt him, grab him and try to force him to allow you to hold him.

To build your budgieís trust, sit by his cage and read, talk or sing quietly to him for a period of at least 10-15 minutes, 3 or 4 times day. After the 2nd or 3rd day, rest your hand on the outside of the cage when you talk to him so he'll learn that your hand is safe and will not hurt him.

After a week, rest your hand inside the cage when you talk.
Donít make sudden moves, donít try to touch him.
Let his get used to the idea that the hand is now in his safe place and not harming him.

After 2 weeks, begin moving your hand slowly toward your budgie. If he becomes agitated, stop moving your hand and just hold very still until he calms down. When he's comfortable with your hand near him, you can offer him a bit of millet or a few seeds. In a few more days, you can begin your taming and bonding sessions.

Always work at your budgie's pace.
Move slowly and talk reassuringly and calmly to him whenever you interact with him.

Most budgies once they pass the "baby" stage, do not like to be petted or touched.
If your budgie does like to be petted, you should only ever pet his head, neck or chest area.
Stroking a budgie's back and/or tail stimulates its breeding instinct. Bonding means allowing them to choose to be with you.
