Default Keet or Con?

The bird that dropped in to our lives last fall is listed as both Crimson Bellied Conure and C.B. Parakeet. He bonded instantly with our Nanday and in general has no interest in the budgies. And his behavior! Bet you've never seen a budgie with this attitude:

https://www.facebook.com/story.php?st...&id=1380870830

You can imagine we're terrified of stepping on him. (Apparently a friend lost a super-sweet budgie that way but I don't want to know the details.)

Anyhow, does anyone know what aspects of a parakeet are behind the double-naming?

Foo. It works for me and is set for public viewing. Always something... It's an mp4 & I can't change it with the kindle so I can't upload it here...

If anyone cares enough, try going to my FB page @ https://www.facebook.com/kenneth.w.lieck and look at my videos. It's the 14th one, thumbnail of my head & bird, right above Mike Nesmith in Napoleon hat!

You are correct, the The Crimson-bellied Conure (Pyrrhura perlata) is also called Crimson-bellied Parakeet.

Parakeet simply means "bird with a long tail"
I assume someone referred to the Crimson-bellied Conure as a "Parakeet" because it has a much longer tail than other types of conures.

https://animal-world.com/encyclo/bird.../parakeets.htm

A bird of that size could very easily kill a budgie so I'm glad to hear yours has no interest in them.
Nevertheless, I would not allow them to have unsupervised out-of-cage time together.

Uli is not as big as you think and wouldn't hurt a fly unless it had human feet! Krikkit (last pic) is another story...

BTW, I wouldn't even be bugging you guys but I forgot my talkparrots.com password!
