Arrow New movie coming out

Hey everybirdie! Lonny just showed me this clip of the up and coming movie, The Secret Life of Pets. Here's the clip:

I'm posting this for us as bird lovers, but also as a small reminder of how close it's probably going to resemble the Christmas scenario, and also the Finding Nemo effect. After Finding Nemo came out, many people went out and bought clown fish without knowing how to properly care for these bird. They only wanted them because they were the same fish from the movie. As far as the Christmas thing goes, many people buy animals for their kids, or significant other, not knowing if said recipient is actually going to want said animal. Just putting it out there for people to spread the word of the responsible buying of animals, and in the upcoming months, birds.

Anyway, onto lighter things. Was this not the cutest looking movie ever? It's about time they made a movie with a budgie in it!!! I can't wait to go see it!!!

I know, I did see a trailer for that movie recently! I thought it looked pretty cute, too, and the little budgie in it made me happy as well

I also worry, however, that people would think it's okay for their bird to interact with dogs and cats (as the bird does in the movie) Obviously, the only setting for that to happen is a fictitious--i.e not existent in real life--scenario!

Hopefully people keep their wits about them after seeing this movie!

Oh how cute! We're never too old for an adorable cartoon about pets ! I can't wait to see this. I've never heard of it, but I'll be looking for it now.

Sigh... 101 Dalmatians, Finding Nemo, Paulie, and countless other animal movies... In a "perfect world" people would research first to see if the animal portrayed in the movie is really the best pet for the kids or not!

One other thing that makes me sad, is that most of the time when we see birds on tv or movies, they're in a small cage with NO toys! This sends a bad message to new bird owners who don't participate in bird groups of forums, and have no way of knowing it is wrong. 'Once' I saw a show where the bird actually had toys. It made me think the director or someone influential on the set must have had a bird.

I did notice one thing though, if you pause the vid when the budgie is on the remote, he has 3 front toes, and 1 back. Obviously not accurate, and for some reason, really annoys me, lol.

Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world, and I wish we did. Far fewer unresearched pets would be given to people who actually didn't want them, or suffer because someone who did want them didn't know how to properly care for them. I too hope that people do their research BEFORE buying these animals, and before allowing them in contact with cats or dogs.

Darn it, Kristen--I'll never be able to unsee that!

At least the bird in question is actually the correct gender with regards to his cere colour--you can't imagine how many budgie related things I've seen where the males have brown ceres or the females have blue!

You're not kidding, Star, I can't either now, and it'll bug me when I got to see it when it comes out. And yes, thank goodness the gender is correct, lol. At least they got that right!

But did you notice that cartoon people are always drawn with 4 fingers instead of 5? ALWAYS. They say that since animations are simplified versions of the real thing, that it saves time drawing, and it's sufficient lol. Plus since cartoon chraracters tend to have chubby fingers and toes, it would look odd with the usual amount. So I guess the same goes for cartoon pets. Most cartoon dogs also have 3 toes instead of 4.

Edit: I re-read what you said, sorry... you and I aren't talking about the same thing. At least they gave the bird the right amount of toes, just not 'parrot style' feet .
