So, I've had my two budgies for a while now. I've gotten over my initial panic (Are they sick? Are they ok? Can I keep them alive?) and we are now settled into a routine where everyone seems happy.
My birds have two very different personalities it seems. Bob (male) is very stoic. He doesn't really play much, but instead prefers to sit in one of his two favourite spots in the cage and sing and chatter all day. Birdie (female) is the polar opposite, climbing the cage bars, swinging from toys, chewing their ladder to bits etc!
My question is, I'd like to know if the two of them actually like each other, as I see conflicting signs. They preen each other's heads and faces which I think is a good sign. They 'kiss' each other (beaking?), and at night they cosy up together on the same perch to sleep.
Sometimes though, Birdie will nibble at Bob's feet, and I don't know what that means. At first I thought maybe she just wanted him away from 'her spot' in the cage? She has not caused him any injury, and he doesn't make any noise when she does it, but he does fly off to another spot. Occasionally she will follow him and do it again, but by the end of the day, there they are snuggling on the perch together.
So what's the verdict wise people? Are they friends, or is Birdie quietly planning Bob's demise, lol.
