Flying... why still holding the perch?
I have noticed in the last few days my girls have been flapping wildly in their cage as if trying to fly... but they are still holding onto the perches in the cage. They dont move but i turn away for a moment and it sounds like a fan going off behind me. I turn around and here is BB and/or Lea flapping while perched and staring in my direction. Its always looking at me...
I figured they wanted out and opened the cage so they could stretch their wings out better... but sure enough they dont want to do much more than sit on TOP of the cage... and nap or preen each other.
Its really odd... has anyone else seen this sort of thing because im stumped...
Hello there is nothing odd about what your birds are doing, your birds are actually exercising and strengthening their wings by doing this. Many young or near to fledge birds do this before actually taking off.:Love birds:
Cathy is 100% correct.
The behavior is quite normal and actually good for the budgies to strengthen their wings and build their stamina.
