Default So shaken and upset right now

I was just sitting here and heard tweetsum screeching and saw her flapping around. She somehow managed to get the hook/clip thing we use for veggies and birdie bread wrapped around her neck and she was stuck it was strangeling her. I will never put that thing back in their cage again. Now I'm looking at all their toys and am so worried they are unsafe now. I was able to get her unstuck quickly but keep thinking god if I wasn't right there she would have died. I am so upset right now I feel sick to my stomach. She is napping now so I'm worried about her. She stepped up for me and didn't want treats which is unusual for her to not want to be rewarded. She wouldn't even take a bite poor baby. I can't believe this happened we do everything we can to keep them safe and this still happened. Check your toys and play areas for things that they can get caught in keep your little babies safe.

I'm glad you were there and able to rush to Tweetsum's aid! It's understandable after trauma like that to want a nap and not want to be social, but if she is lethargic, best to call the avian vet or an emergency vet who will see avians asap. I hope she is okay. Please keep us updated here. Wishing you good luck!

Whenever you get a chance, you might want to take a picture of the item and list it here in the dangerous toys and products thread. https://talkbudgies.com/budgie-produc...-toy-list.html

Also, until you can get to the vet if she is not acting right, you can try this. Soak a little millet in Pedialyte or the recipe in this link and see if she will take a little. https://talkbudgies.com/articles-budg...te-recipe.html

I'm keeping a good eye on her now. All 4 birdies are napping now so it's just that time of day. I checked out the dangerous toys and didn't realize there were so many that were dangerous.

Good, I hope she is just napping right now as part of her regular afternoon nap time . Just in case you need an avian vet or perhaps a new one, this list of bird resources might help. https://talkbudgies.com/general-budgi...directory.html

We have a great again vet that we absolutely love and is amazing with our guys and he is super close. I can't say enough good things about him. It's really dark and kind of cold right now from rain so they are all sleepy

Alright, good to know you have a place to take her if she should be acting 'off' when she wakes from her nap . Hope all is well.

Jessica, I'm so sorry to hear about this unfortunate event but am so glad to hear you were there and were able to rescue little Tweetsum before a tragedy happened.

There's no way for us to know that everything we put in their cage is 100% safe, and I know you always want what's best for your birdies, so don't blame yourself or focus on the "what ifs". The important thing is you were able to remove the clip.

Julie did well in suggesting you post a picture in the Dangerous Toy List, perhaps by doing so you can save another little one like you did your Tweetsum.

Let us know how she does, I hope she's just fine and recovers from the experience well

Julie offered excellent advice and I do hope when you have time you will add a post with a picture of the offending hook/clip so others will know to avoid them.

It's very likely Tweetsum was stressed after her traumatic experience. It is a natural reaction for the body to need to rest after such an adrenaline rush.

I'm very glad you were nearby and were able to rescue Tweetsum quickly.

Let us know how she's doing.
I'm wishing her (and you) a full and speedy recovery from her unfortunate experience.

It was just so scary I am so glad I was right there to help her. Just a reminder how delicate they are and are like little toddlers who can get in trouble without knowing it.
