Hello getting a budgie to talk takes time and a lot of repetition. Some budgies will never speak or mimic human sounds. Others will pick it up easily. Usually they will be chattering and making a lot of noise with a different sound before they actually talk.
Keep saying his name to him " Hello Dobrica, Hello Dobrica".
getting other budgies could lessen the chance of talking as he will naturally converse or interact with a fellow bird species before a human.

Hi Anna

Dobrica may pick up some words! Repetition is a good trick to teach him!

Don't worry if he doesn't seem to want to talk--not all budgies do, after all, and it's up to their personalities if they want to learn. He may want to mimic things, though, before he talks or instead, even. Imitating noises like the telephone or other frequent noises could be something he does, too!

Mallorn makes noises like the microwave beeping, my whistling, and she mimics our dove's cooing

Best of luck!

Good luck with teaching Dobrica to talk. When I was younger my dad used to repeat words to our pet Budgie first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Dad did get some Budgies to talk. It does depend on the budgie though and how consistant you are.

Hi. There. It takes a really long time to teach your bird to talk. You have to repeat the word over and over again lots and lots of times all day and every day. But the key word is patience. I taught Ind at a young age. Males make the best talkers.. Take a look at Indi talking to me...Not all budgies talk but if you want to spend the time and teach him he will pick up the words we are the ones who teach the bird they only mimic our voices....Good luck oh start with an easy word to start with...

I learn him to say Volim te ,means I love you and he repeat,so fast learner,i can bealive...But he is tired now and he must to rest in afternoon. He is so soft emotion,i think he is born like this and depand of mutations...But he is very fun in his permanent games with 2 bowls in cage. Before he have mirror and bell but start to be agressive to it toys.He wait his wife Evica to start to live with him.He is now separate and young little lady, maybe she is so quiet and lisen but i think he is pretty smarter and faster learner. He is just born especial, best wishes to all from us.ption 1:

If you are teaching your bird to talk a mirror isn't a good idea as the bird bonds with the bird in the mirror that is why he gets aggressive..

Hi Anna,

Congratulations on teaching Dobrica to talk! He does seem to be a fast learner if he can already say his name and "I love you"!

He does seem like a very sweet bird However, it actually doesn't depend on mutations, it depends on the individual personality of the bird

Also, Lyn has a point--budgies, and especially budgies that are by themselves, shouldn't have mirrors as they can become obsessed with their reflection, which leads to issues.
