After 3 years my friend's family can no longer care for this little budgie.
he was purchased as a gift for the little sister who was begging for months for wanting a little bird. she no longer care for him the way she should and the mom is left with all the responsibilities, but the mom is allergic to the little birdy.
I have 2 cats and a long haired(Wolly) Huskey
The family know that my family has taken care of many animals and we cant really say no to animals in need.
i have not owned a pet bird before. both of my parents have had birds at different stages of their lives. in my dads 20s he owned a pet shop.
Taking care of him won't be a problem.
im worried that he will be verry stressed out being moved from one home to another from a house with 3 kids under the age of 13 to a house with 2 cats a dog and a 14 year old boy who is very loud.
i really want to love this bird.
apparently he loves being talked to.
he also is afraid of hands when they go in his cage.
i guess im asking people with experience:
what is the best way to get cats used to a pet bird?
would it be like how i had my dog introduced to the cats? i kept my cts in 1 room let them get used to surroundings then i had a dog gate and have them meet through the gate then i let my cats choose form there. my cats and dog are bests of friends.
what is the best way to handle a frightened bird, i want to hold him alot and get him used to fingers. but i dont want to scare him or put him up to tomany changes all at once.
Thank you for your help!
p.s. we will have him tuesday afternoon
