Default Budgie perch help

Need to know if this tree is bad for budgies.. Don't know the exact type of tree it is but I have some pictures that will help in identifying that.

Would need the info as soon as possible as my parakeets are stuck in a very small cage waiting for me to finish their bigger one.

I'm unfamiliar with that particular tree.
I was not able to find a match using Google Search of images.
If it is in your yard then someone who lives near you may be able to tell you what type of tree it is.
Otherwise you could contact the botony division of a university for assistance.

Best wishes.

I called around and no one knew what type of tree it was so I decided to just go ahead and buy some 1x2's in lowes and make perches for the budgies. Now I know for a fact that the budgies will be safe with their new perches. Thanks for your help!

Hi, also remember budgies need different types of and sizes of perches to keep their feet healthy.

Hi there

I'm glad you're looking for some options to make your little ones perches!

I don't mean to rain on your parade, so to speak, but dowel perches are not the best option, either. Budgie feet need lots of different surfaces and diameters so that their feet don't develop a disease called bumblefoot, or cramps in their foot muscles.

The best type of perches are those made of natural wood, which if you don't have a confirmed safe tree nearby, you can easily find at a pet store or online. That way, you really are sure that it is the best option for your little budgie's feet!

Dowel perches are not a good choice as they can lead to bumblefoot.

Please take a look at this thread to see the types of perches you should be considering for your budgie's cage.
