Default Male vocalizing at me

Hi all!!

I have 3 little monkeys - Marple, Tommy and Tuppence.

They are all happily occupying one cage, though there is a second cage close by and available, they all hang out in one.

The last couple of weeks, when they are free flying, Tommy lands on my monitor and screams and dances at me. I have NO idea what he wants.

He's not particularly tame, he will land on me and often step up, but he's not completely handle-able like Marpie is.

Tuppence is in breeding condition, so I rearranged all the cage equipment to throw her off.

Other than that, I've tried spritzing him to see if he's asking for a bath...

I don't mind for awhile, but it's really loud and if I shoo him away, he flies around comes straight back.

Any ideas?

From your description it really seems that Tommy is showing his playful mood to you and is actually showing initiative in trying to have a closer connection/interaction with you and that in itself is great and this isn't something that should be considered as negative, quite the contrary.
Your Tommy really likes you and is showing how happy he is to be around you.

I'd say embrace your Tommy's joy, all of his enthusiastic singing/dancing!
He is a happy and healthy boy and to see them so happy is the goal of any pet bird owner/lover.

Thanks Aluz!!!

I guess that's possible!? I just thought he'd be more receptive to being picked up, et cetera if he was starting to trust me.

But maybe this is the first step!

Budgies in general do not like being picked up, so even when they're tame or comfortable with you, you shouldn't make a habit of picking them up unless it's an emergency.

I agree that Tommy is showing excitement towards you, and the best way to build his relationship with you is to talk back to him in excited tones, whistle back, and things like that. Soon he will see that you enjoy talking to him, too
