Default Nearly bought another budgie

I didn't get a photo because I know if I did the urge would be too much...
I was in my local pets shop and they had a pale yellow male with a 2015 band on his leg. He looked healthy and full of energy. If I had another cage I would have bought him that day...

How do you all cope with the temptation.

Hahaha well I can tell that you do because you have an aviary!

Seriously though, it's hard to resist sometimes. This is what keeps me at bay... I feel maxed out at the moment with certain schedule particulars right now, and thinking about the care and attention (and mess that needs to be constantly cleaned) from my 5 existing birds, brings me down to reality quite fast! I have 3 parrots and 2 English budgies and believe me, I do daydream and get the urge to have more birds just like many members do. The realistic thought about the vet costs and time and clean up within my busy life already slaps me back to reality. Only you personally know how many animals you can responsibly handle and care for, and what your personal limit is. Plus.... there is a special place for members who need some support in this area. Yeah, with 10 budgies I can't say my self control is awesome.
It's about knowing what is best for your flock. When my new birds are introduced, dynamics will change within the flock but I mostly don't let the whole flock out together only rarely. That was with 8. So with 10 I likely will resist doing all of them often.

I think it's great you resisted. There's always plenty of time.

I usually know I can't offer them a good home so no need to even think about. Still when I got this new cage I already became tempted and got 2 more because I knew I could offer them a good home.

I keep thinking it would be great to get Jay a friend. the cost and cleaning doesn't bother me. but i cant justify another cage for the space it would take up at the moment.

If you'd like to closely bond with this one I suggest not to get another one, but if you really want another one, you could probably keep it with Jay since his cage is good for 2 I think but you never know if they will get along and then be required to get another cage.

Well, the cage space for quarantine is always an issue

I'm glad you resisted

Sometimes resisting is for the better

Focusing on just little Jay right now is a very good idea
