Default Question about white feathers

Good evening
here's the story ~
last month I thought Rocky is chewing the rope perch because I heard chewing sounds, and I saw something in his mouth. I removed it ever since.
Now, I see that it might have not been the rope but white fluffy feathers of his. O-o
Is it okay he chews them like that? @[email protected] it really has this crusty sound to it, like he's eating chips lol. after I take a closer look I see it's a white fluffy feather . i'm worried a bit where and how does he get them /: maybe while preening? feathers fall and he decides it fun to chew them?

~as I was writing these lines he did it again~

Good evening, Karina!

Budgies can on occasion get those little fluffy white feathers on their beaks while preening and they can also chew on them a bit in an attempt to get rid of them, as they can quite easily get stuck on the cere/beak.
When it comes to playing and chewing, they would much rather pick a fallen wing feather and chew the exposed part of the quill.

I see !
Thank you very much ^^
True, when I see such white feather on his beak I try to help him to remove it because it seems stuck and uncomfortable hehe.
Yup I'm familiar with the wing feathers chewing , but not about the White ones .
Good to know !

Just wanted to add that the "crunching" sound you heard was probably his beak grinding as he chewed, not the actual feather.
