Male budgie free for good home!
Due to personal reasons I'm going to have to give up my budgie, he's 3 years old(we think), his name is Pebble and he is kind of tame.
I'm looking for a good home, without kids(unless your kids grew up with budgies and know how to handle them) or other animals, except for other birds that can live with budgies.
He comes with a cage, toys, bowls, drinker, perches, cuttlebone, mineral block(plus an extra), a carrier, seeds and a little millet. He is very talkative, but can't say actual words, he can do kissing noises, and certain whistles that we taught him.
If you are planning to have him on his own, you'll need to be home a lot, and spend time with him, if you plan on pairing him with another budgie, being away for periods of time is fine.
I got him when he was a year old, or so I was told, but I was also told that he was completely tame. The couple I got him from mostly left him to his own, in a dark corner and covered him when ever he was being a little loud.
He was dead scared when I was any where near him, face, hand, or even just close to his cage.
Since then I've spent every day with him, as he's on my desk, by my computer.
He'll eat out of your hand, put a foot on it, sometimes even stand on your hand if you've got millet. I've managed to sometimes get him to jump to my hand from his cage, and he absolutely love when your face is close and you talk to him, he'll puff up and grind his beak, fall asleep and sometimes nibble your nose, or find those little hairs on your upper lip you didnt know you had!
I used to be able to scratch his head and cheeks, and sometimes he still lets me, but I'd have to have my hand in the same position in the cage for atleast 30 minutes before he'll come over and stick his head on my finger.
He likes to peck my nails and regurgitate on it. Eye pinning and all the usual!
I've tried pairing him with other budgies, but he always seemed to be the short one in the pecking order and never get to eat or drink, which got me very worried.
Unfortunently 1 year ago I had to put his male friend down, due to a broken leg that the vet didn't think was possible to fix, and said that it would be the best option for us.
Since then I've kept him on his own, and spent atleast 8 hours a day with him.
I truly don't want to let him go, but I know I have to, and I want to find a good home for him where he'll be comfortable and treated like the little king he is.
I hope it's alright that I post this here. I know this forum has a lot of good people, with beautiful well treated birds, and I hope that I'll find someone who will do the same for him.
I live near Newcastle, England.
