Okay, we are teasing. Bubbles is the cutest, fluffiest bird the world has ever seen. He is still a little shy, but has started climbing all around his cage, hanging upside down and playing like a little Conure. Alex even got a little under chin snuggle and brief preening from him. We'll post more pics as we get them (I'm praying these show up!) Here's one more of his baby pics so you can see just how sweet he has always been...
Thank you guys! According to our breeder, he is a bouncing budgie boy! His cere is a nice solid pinky-violet. Since he's a recessive pied, I guess that's his boy color. We are learning as we go- we've learned because of his mutation he has dark eyes, pink cere, orange beak and pink feet. So neat!
Yep, a solid pink or lavender would be a boy . I love the recessive pieds. My first two budgies were recessive pied boys. The mutation keeps the dark eyes which make them look extra cute. The males also keep the juvenile cere color their entire lives.
Yes, Julie- those dark eyes are what really grabbed us in our breeder's baby pictures! Alex had been pretty set on a sky blue- a more prominent presentation of the sky blue, like a normal or dominant pied. One look at Bubbles and he was in love! We think he looks like a tiny snowy owl. Isn't it funny how certain mutations just appeal to certain people?
