Default Hen or Cock

We just got this 8 week old baby and need to know the gender for naming purposes.

The pictures are a little far, but the cere is very pinky purple so I'd say you have a little boy!

Hi! to Talk Budgies

I agree with Tiffanie. It would be better to have close-up pictures of the cere taken in natural light, but from what I can see it appears you have a beautiful baby boy.

Please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

You'll find most of your basic questions about budgies and caring for them will have been answered after you've read through all of them.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your new little budgie friend!

I agree that in order to confirm your budgie's gender, it's best that you take a couple of more close up photos in natural lighting.
Artificial lighting can mess with the cere's true colours when taking photos and on the second picture you have attached which appears to have been taken in better lighting, it seems there is some prominent white colour around the nostril area.
