Unhappy Budgies are acting weird

They just started squawking and screeching so loud and I'm worried. They jump from their perch to the cage bars and back. Sometimes after they jump there, they stay on the bars. I know that budgies like to climb, but this is new, they have never acted like this, especially the screeching and squawking, they used to be so silent.
Help? I just got these 2 budgies about a week ago and for a week, they were very silent, they barely moved and I am able to handfeed 1 of them (the other runs to a different part of the cage), I haven't seen either of them drinking, but I'm pretty sure that they do since I see a bit of droppings near the water dish. I do not own any other pets, but my family is really really really loud and some of us yell.

Welcome to the forums!

It would be helpful if you gave us some more background, I will start with a few questions:
For how long have you had these budgies, were they recently acquired?
Has there been a change in terms of the environment your budgies have been kept? Are there other species of pets frequenting the same room your budgies are in?

If your budgies are relatively new and have been silent thus far, then most likely they are feeling more comfortable in their new home and only now are they confident to make their voices known and to better explore the cage. There can be the occasional screeching mingled with the several chirps budgies normally make. Moving between perches or climbing/staying on the cage's bars is also normal.

Hi! to Talk Budgies

I agree with aluz. The more background information one can provide when asking for advice, the better.

Please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

You'll find most of your basic questions about budgies and caring for them will have been answered after you've read through all of them.

Hi there and to the forums!

I agree with all the advice and questions from the above posters

You budgies will soon begin to settle into a routine; they are still very new and are getting comfortable with their new environment.

Be sure to read through the links provided as they will be helpful in keeping you posted on the very best of budgie care practices! If you have any questions, please be sure to ask as we'd love to help.

I hope to see you around, and best of luck!
