I will be moving soon into an apartment with not a lot of windows. My boys live in my bedroom and it would be nice if I could keep the door open (at least when I am home) to let more light into the living room. In the past they've seldom if ever ventured out of my bedroom when I've left the door open, but I'd be concerned that they might be tempted to if they could see me sitting on the couch through the door. Would putting up a sheer or beaded curtain over the door help keep them in, or would that just give them an interesting thing to climb on/through? What other methods have people used?
I put a tension rod across the doorway going from my dining room and the kitchen and hung a lightweight curtain on it to keep the budgies out of the kitchen area.
It lets light through, yet is enough of a deterrent to keep them from trying to navigate through the doorway.
None of the budgies have ever tried landing on either the curtain or the tension rod.
