Default Upgrading to Larger Cage

Wow, I've been posting a lot recently! But as it nears the end of summer I want get to work on some of my "To-Do" list. One of the things on my list was to upgrade to a better cage for my two feathery friends. They have a pretty good sized cage now that is by no means cramped but, well, I earned some extra cash this summer working and since I'm all paid-up for any current horsie or doggie needs, this extra money is going to the birds. And the cages I'm looking at will be more manageable for me (hopefully) since I'll be able to wheel them from window to window so the birds can get some nice sunlight (with the window open so the Vit. D actually filters through) And my birthday is next week so may spend some bday money on them as well...we'll see

So I'll tell you what I'm looking for and I was wondering if any of you have bought cages like it and have a preferred brand or place to order from. I'm going to my favorite bird store this week or next week so I'll see if there are any cages there but from what I've seen the large cages they have are meant for large birds, so the bar spacing is much too wide. And I think there are some better deals online.

Qualifications:
1/2" or below bar spacing

I'd like the dimensions to be about (and for any of these, the bigger the better- this is about the minimum) L30"xW18"xH50" and I want it to come with a stand with wheels (these measurements being of the cage itself, not the cage with stand together)

Price range: I'd like to stay within $100-$150; again, the lower the better

And...wait I think that's all of my qualifications Oh! Color I'd prefer white but can go with black too.
Below are some screenshots of the cages I've looked at so you can get an idea of what I'm thinking.

Cage Numero Uno from my go-to Amazon!
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

The only thing I don't know about is this larger gap/thick wire in the middle here...have to make sure that no budgie part can get stuck in there!

I don't shop from ebay as much but so far I've had good luck with them and sometimes they have some good prices
New Bird Parrot Cage Chinchilla Cockatiel Conure Large w Stand Two Doors | eBay

Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this! Any recommendations helpful!

***EDIT

Well, I had been looking for threads of a similar topic, but hadn't found them before I posted this. Well, surprise! I found some- just had to enter some different search words It looks like the F040 and F050 and the HQ flight cage have been recommended- I was already looking at the F040 (it was one of the cages I showed above). The only thing is...well I hadn't thought about it until I was looking at the cage again, but all of the bars are vertical. Some of my dishes slide through horizontal bars. I do have dishes that screw on to the cage itself, since Hermes loves to knock his dishes over, so I guess I can always just get an additional screw-on dish or two. Now that I think about it, do any of these larger cages have horizontal barring?

I have/had both the Prevue Hendryx F040 (four of them) and the F050.

Both are great but I particularly love the F050 and will upgrade one of my F040s to an additional F050 in the future.
37-Inch long, 23-inch wide and 60-inch with 1/2-inch wire spacing (48" H interior)

There is no concern about the gap in the middle - it is no wider than 1/2".

These cages often go on sale (Usually around the holidays) and it's good to check Amazon's prices periodically. Labor day is coming up in September and I'm expecting there will be another sale then.

I don't find any of my budgies have a problem with the horzontal bars at all. They can easily climb them and like sliding down them.

I use the stainless steel bowls from Drs Foster and Smith for food and water rather than the plastic dishes that came with the cages.

Stainless food/water dish

The bowls also come with a screw on clamp but I like the hanging ones better myself.

The other cage you linked looks very nice as well.
The interior dimensions (Length/Width) are a bit smaller than the F050 but, depending on the number of birds you will be housing, that shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck with your choices and be sure to let us know what you decide.

I have the F040 for my cockatiel. I love it because it is so easy to clean! I have also bought the F050 for the budgies once I remove them from their breeding cage. Obviously I love the Prevue flights because I had to buy another! And I know many members who have larger flocks have several of the Prevue flights as well.
Have fun shopping!

I have two of the F50 cages as well, and my birds absolutely love it, as do I. There is lots of space and it's a sturdy cage. I love the fact that it's on wheels, wand easy to move around.

The only thing I did not like was the food and water dishes that came with it. But those are easily swapped out for anything that you prefer. (I kept the dishes to have on hand as extras, just in case)

The case was easy to build by myself, but I did need a hand putting the top on, i found that it needed two people to line up all the bars with the holes.

Thank you for all of that helpful info! I'll only be keeping Hermes and Izzy in this new cage, and if/when they have chicks I hope to keep one for myself so it would stay in that cage as well. I would have more birds if my parents didn't stop me I think I'll get some other screw on dishes- I've had a stainless steel hanging dish like the one you showed above, but Hermes just loves to duck under it and knock it down, spilling all of the food

I think I like the look of the one I found on ebay better, but it's not quite as wide as the F040 (I don't think I need the F050 for 2 or 3 birds only ). The ebay cage is a little longer though and a bit taller. So that balances it out a little. I think I'm really leaning towards this cage on ebay. I measured out the dimensions and it'll fit perfectly in the spot I'm thinking of. And I love how "fancy" the cage looks with the thicker wire designs. Going to take a little more time to browse but I think that's the cage I'm going to get!

Thank you to all of you who replied! That gives me some good input in which cages are good and popular. If I hadn't found this cage I like so much on eBay I would definitely get the F040. It's going to be a hard choice...Get the popular cage that many have loved, or get a less-known cage that has gotten good reviews as well...Maybe I'll take the road less traveled. We'll see

A friend of mine had a cage very similar to the one you found on Ebay (just shorter) and it was a GREAT cage.

I think you'll be very pleased with it and you are absolutely correct - for just two (or three) budgies - that will be a wonderful upgrade.

Thank you guys! And Shane, I've had Hermes for 2 years, Izzy for 1, before I considered buying a cage this large So I'm sure Gracie is happy where she's at for the time being I love the name by the way- my cousins that I babysit have a golden retriever puppy named Gracie.

So I just ordered the cage from eBay and it's scheduled to arrive on my birthday!!! to me! My dad volunteered to help me put it together because he doesn't trust two girls to get the job done (my best friend is going to be there too). Haha I think we would've figured it out...I work at a stable for crying out loud I'm no stranger to hard work So I'm very excited and will post a picture or video when the cage is all ready and Herm and Iz are safely inside So now that I have a bigger cage, I need to buy some toys and perches so it doesn't seem so empty Guess what I'll be buying birthday shopping this year...

It's great you've ordered the cage and we'll be looking forward to seeing pictures when you have it set up, decorated and Hermes and Izzy are all moved in!

Happy Birthday!
