Default Tiffanie's Flock is Growing!

If y'all remember I had finally found a breeder. Well, I found two, but one was three hours away (Tampa, FL) and one was only an hour away (Stuart, FL). The breeder in Tampa had sold all her birds and wouldn't have more until the beginning of 2017. The breeder in Stuart had two babies left in the clutch that were not spoken for (they were still eggs at the time). I put my name on one just in case.
Well, the Tampa breeder remembered me and several weeks later emailed and asked if I was still interested in a baby. She had a baby girl who was unclaimed basically because she wasn't a "special" budgie. She was not spangle or unusually colored so her original owner wanted to wait for another clutch. She sent a picture and I fell in love.

Meet Emerald, or Emmy, for short. She is just a doll. Seriously, so so sweet.

She is split to blue, and you can see her blue tinges in this picture.

Me, being OCD and all, wanted to keep my flock equal between males and females. So I needed a male. I told the Stuart breeder I wanted the male and that was that.
Come to find out about two weeks later she emails me and says, "Oh no! The male is actually a female! Do you still want her?" This baby is gorgeous. I still wanted her.

So I now have claim to two additional females and no males! Well, hubby said I could get two males to be even-stevens and I ran with it. haha

Meet Paris! I fell in love with him when I went to my local independently owned bird store for some food. He isn't tamed yet, but he isn't terrified of hands. When my hand comes in he sits and watches, but doesn't fearfully sprint to the opposite end of the cage. He has started eating millet from my fingers and I'm hoping he's going to be an easy tamer.
I chose him because of his playfulness. He was the only budgie playing in the cage. He is straight crazy. My husband and I watch him and crack up. I'm trying to get a video of him playing. Y'all would love it!

So...my other female is ready to come home this weekend, but we may not be picking her up until next weekend. We'll see. And the second male is yet to be found. But again, we'll see what happens.

They're in quarantine and so I have birds at every end of the house and my husband said, "The birds are everywhere! It's like a scene from The Birds! And there's still more to come!" He's being such a good sport. The flock calling is out of control. Once quarantine is up they'll all go into the new extra large flight I just bought. They're all so sweet and playful that I'm hoping their personalities allow them to live together.

Congratulations on your latest arrivals!
I have to disagree with the breeder in terms of the "specialness", your Emmy is beautiful and absolutely precious!
I think she's an olive green dominant pied budgie.
Your new boy, Paris is gorgeous as well and from what I'm seeing, he's a sky blue recessive pied opaline budgie.

I can't wait to meet your other budgie girl and her potential buddy!

I completely agree with aluz.
I find Emmy to be exquisitely special and unique.
I certainly see why you fell in love with her.

Paris is adorable and his little cheek feathers are really cute.

Congratulations on a stunning pair!

I'll be looking forward to your next two budgie arrival updates!

Tiffanie, I love your new additions I can't wait to see the others yet to come! How exciting .

I think Emmy is really beautiful. While not technically unusual, she is still very unique. Paris is lovely too, and reminds me a little of Yazzi .

Your new additions are just stunning, Tiffanie!

Whoever didn't want Emmy must have been blind--she is absolutely radiant and her shade of green is mesmerising

As for Paris, he is one handsome little guy

I can't wait to meet the other two and congratulations on both your new additions and your amazing hubby

Keep us posted!

Terrible news!

I went to pick up my new baby girl yesterday afternoon and during transfer the breeder made a mistake and she got out! She hadn't been clipped and she flew into the tree almost to the top and just sat there. We waited for three hours and she didn't move. The breeder brought the baby's dad out and they called back and forth the whole time, but she never moved. My husband took me back a little after sunset just in case, but she was gone. I'm devastated. The breeder is, too. It was the first baby she ever lost like that. Lost posts are up on all the area's Facebook pages/Craigslist/Parrot911/etc. We can only hope, but I fear the worst. She's just so pretty that if anyone finds her I doubt they'd return her. She is banded, but again, that doesn't mean anything if the wrong person finds her.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear of this accident.
I'm praying she got rescued by a caring person and that soon she will get reunited with the breeder and you.
At the impossibility of this happening, I hope she is safe and sound with another good family who will love and take great care of her.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Tiffanie! You must be very upset, I can imagine.

I'm praying she comes back, and if not, that someone kind takes her in.

Oh no Tiffanie, my heart goes out to you . My sentiments are the same as the posts above. I truly hope for the best of luck, that Emmy is recovered and returned. In the event that doesn't happen, I just hope she flew to a good home. I'm so sorry.
