Default Hello Again!

Hello TB friends! Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. Last I posted was when Bellatrix passed away last year. Since then I've had some change.

Dobby was very, very, very lonely and depressed after Bella passed. So I adopted a sweet yellow budgie named Paris from a lady on Craigslist who had to downsize her flock. After his quarantine, Dobby and Paris became very good friends, and Dobby was happy again.

Unfortunately, in February my handsome Dobbykinz passed away. This time, leaving Paris very sad.

I didn't feel good about getting another budgie at the time, so since then I've been trying to work on befriending Paris. He is a sweet little bird, he steps up, but you can tell he hates it. He doesn't want to be my friend, get just wanted another birdie friend. He befriended my conure, Peatree, but he just wants someone to be with all the time. He looks sad.

So I finally gave in and decided to get him another friend. I have been looking on Craigslist, but all the budgies I've found have been in pairs, or a huge amount of them being sold by crappy breeders. So I decided to get one from my wonderful local pet store. I went and picked out another budgie yesterday, and s/he is now in quarantine. I'm hoping s/he likes Paris!

The new budgie is only a baby, 12 weeks old. S/he is not named yet, because I don't know the gender and my names kind depend on gender. I'll try to get some pictures of the cere to see if you guys have any idea.

Here is the new baby ~

All of my other babies are wonderful! I'll try to post some pics of them for you guys soon.

Welcome back to the forums, Maddy!
You have my deepest sympathies over your Dobby's passing.

Paris and your lastest arrival are beautiful!
From the photo you have posted of your new baby bird, I'm unable to tell the cere's true colours, the lighting really isn't ideal for gender ID.
If the little one's cere has a uniform pink or purplish colour, then you have a boy.
If the cere is more whitish in colour, then you have a girl.
It would be helpful if you managed to post a photo taken in natural lighting.

Hi, Maddy and welcome back

I'm very sorry for your loss of little Dobby.

aluz is correct about natural lighting being important when posting pictures for determining gender.

When you post another picture taken in natural light a better assessment can be made.

EDIT: After seeing the pictures in the other thread, I'd say you have a beautiful baby boy.

Hey Maddy! I'm glad things are going well with your flock now, even though you have lost Dobby recently I'm very sorry to hear that!

Your little boy Paris is gorgeous, as is your new little blue bub. I can't wait to see more of them.

Keep us posted on how the naming goes!

I have just checked your thread at the Gender section and this is a perfect example of how lighting in a photo can truly be misleading when it comes to the cere's true colours.
With the new photos taken in better lighting, I agree that you have a young male budgie.
