Default Thermo Perch/Heat Panels?

Winter is approaching rapidly and I've been looking for good ways to keep my budgies warm during the colder months. Does anyone have the Thermo Perch or Heat Panel? If so, would you mind sharing your thoughts on them? Do your birds like them? Are they too slippery? Which one is a better investment? or should I get both of them? They're pricey, but it'll be better than the electricity bill without them. Gosh, sorry for all of the questions (and if this is in the wrong thread section)

Simply in looking at the information on the two products, if I were to choose one, I would go with the heat panel.
I would prefer it because it provides a warm area and the bird is not touching the panel.

Something about the idea of the bird sitting on a thermal perch connected to an electrical outlet (even though the cord is outside the cage) just doesn't bode well to me.

I have a thermal perch but don't use it. It is very slippery and the birds were afraid of it. I think they now may make one that has a surface that is not so slippery.
