I recently got Greyjoy & Toki new baths. I'm concerned because it seems Grejoy has started a habit of dunking his entire face in the bath while he's in it and I'm worried he could get water in his ears. The bath has about a half inch of water so perhaps I'm filling it too high. However he seems to enjoy washing his face this way and did not seem to be in any distress. Has anyone else ever seen their birds do this? He will get in, splash around and while swimming dunk his face so that even his eyes are submerged. I just want to make bathing as hazard free as possible and don't know if I can reasonably rely on Greyjoy to prevent water from getting in his ears & if this is something I should not let him do anymore.
No need to worry, budgies (and other species of pet birds) can and will bathe or freshen up (just by washing the face area) in that fashion.
In my almost 30 years of pet bird ownership, I have never had a bird to get water inside the ears or have any ill side effects during or right after bathing.
