Hi everybudgie. I thought I would give a quick update. Because you are all like friends and I thought you should know since my profile will change. About a month ago I moved Harvey and Snow into the same cage. I did this because Harvey started overly flirting with Cosmo and she was not having it and miserable. Well Snow and Harvey both having dominate personalities and the cage being completely changed around did wonderful.
But then they both bonded and started picking on Cosmo during out of cage time together. So I started alternating days for them to have out of cage time. During this time I have really bonded with Cosmo and she has really become a different bird.
Well Harvey and Snow started going over to Cosmo's cage during their out of cage time and picking on her. Biting the bars and squawking at her. So I kinda stopped letting them out much. And I started feeling really bad about that. Because I basically just fed, watered themAnd cleaned their cage.
Well I made a super hard decision and rehomed Harvey and Snow. They went to a really nice lady who has two other budgies and experience with them. My heart hurts. But I feel like it was the right thing to do for them, well, and for me and Cosmo.
Anyway that's all. Just needed to get that off my chest.
As difficult and heartbreaking that decision must have been, you did so when thinking of Snow and Harvey's long-term well being and happiness.
It's great that you have found such a wonderful home for them!
It's good to know that during this time you and Cosmo have bonded so closely!
RIP sweet Tito (Summer 2008 - January 17th 2013).
You are missed and never will be forgotten.
Hi ,the decision you made was made with love and care. To rehome your other two budgies was showing a loving and responsible attitude. You do not have to beat yourself up for coming to a loving and sensible decision where all of you are happy and well. Cosmo's bond will strengthen I am sure.
Thanks again everyone for the kind reassurance. I do really believe it was the smartest choice. Boy is it quite here now with out Harvey chirping away. I really do miss the little buggers. But one cool thing. The lady who took them actually has 3 other budgies who live together in a gigantic indoor flight cage. And she said after slow introductions on neutral territory, if all goes well she will out Harvey and Snow in with them. So they will have a flock. Which I think they will like.
